Highlights of Webinar: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Cancer Care
#EUCAYASNET is a patient advocate-led, EU-funded project under one of the flagship initiatives of Europe‘s Beating Cancer Plan to establish the European Network of Youth Cancer Survivors and to create an interactive virtual Platform for peer support and knowledge exchange. Our webinar, held on April 30th, 2024, was an engaging exploration of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in cancer care. We’ve covered a variety of topics that included: • Video overview of the launch of EDI policy recommendations at the European Parliament. • Panel discussion (Levi Klubal, Patient Advocate, Carmen Monge-Montero, Researcher and Patient Advocate, Youth Cancer Europe, Erik Sturesson, Patient Advocate, Youth Cancer Europe) • Co-creation of the Policy Recommendations within EUCAYASNET (Urška Košir, Scientific advisor for Youth Cancer Europe, Researcher, YCE patient advocate, Carmen Monge-Montero, Researcher and Patient Advocate, Youth Cancer Europe ) • Overview of policy recommendations: Presentation of the main policy recommendations (Urška Košir, Scientific advisor for Youth Cancer Europe, Researcher, YCE patient advocate, ) • Implementing EDI in Healthcare Settings and Research: Insights into the challenges and opportunities for implementing EDI principles in healthcare settings - Recommendations for healthcare providers to promote inclusive cancer care - Q&A (Johan de Munter, Nurse Manager Cancer Center, University Hospital Ghent, Diana Todea, Psychologist, Little People Romania) • Upcoming EDI Training Opportunities and Resources: Brief overview of the upcoming EDI training sessions and how to register (Emily Pattinson, Senior Inclusive Employers Standard Programme Lead, Victor Gîrbu, Project Manager, Youth Cancer Europe). • Closing Remarks and Next Steps: Summary of key takeaways and action items.
